Meri's Desk

It is so hard to believe that it is already 2007.  The past five years certainly have flown by.  We have seen many changes over that time.  This is a good time to reflect back and give thanks for the many blessings bestowed on the farm.

I would first like to thank everyone who attended the Christmas party.  It was a great night and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year.  I would especially like to thank Santa Jack for letting us use his tent.  And a super special thanks to Tara for all of her hard work preparing the wonderful buffet dinner.  Again, thank you all for making it such a special night.

I know everyone has noticed all the new faces.  We welcome Holly, a trainer who brought her horses and riders to home base at Kismet.  We have also hired a second instructor to work with Sherry to expand the lesson program.

We also have three new training horses in the barn.  Rachel Lemer got her first pony on Christmas morning.  His name is Amish, and we can't wait to see them in the show ring this year.  Jennifer Hammock also got a new thoroughbred this winter.  His name is Otto, and what a mover!  I know these two will have a very successful career.  Paige has also moved on to her second horse Allie.  We are taking our time for them to get to know each other, but look forward to a lengthy partnership.  We are also in the process of looking for two clients who also need very special mounts.  You two know who you are, so we don't need to let the cat out of the bag yet.

I would like to thank Bill for all of the improvements to the farm this year.  Miles of fencing, new turn-outs, lights in all the arenas!  The new tack room/kitchen/gathering area is almost ready for its grand opening.

We are looking forward to a great 2007.  the farm will be represented in four different horse show associations, literally something for everyone.  I also want to mention that we are planning on going to Colorado next July.  So anyone who wants to beat the heat next summer, keep it on your mind...  Well, I think that's all for now, so again thank you all. I look forward to 2007.

Thank you all,

Mr. Kismet's Diary

I am pleased and excited to welcome Clay to the Kismet riding lesson program.  His vast experience will be an asset and a great help to Sherry, and will allow even more students to join us!  Since January, the lesson program at Kismet Farm has exploded.  We are getting calls from both beginner and experienced riders of every age.

Kudos to Kristen for her reserve championship in the first SJHSA show of the year.  It was a really cold day at the Lone Star Expo Center where Kristen and El Diablo (aka Pancho) warmed the heart of the walk/trot judge.  Kristen is looking forward to company at upcoming shows.

Looking ahead to this summer, we are planning a few weeks of Day Camp.  We have one week of special activities for kids just going into 1st grade.  Then, last summer's older girl camp was good - but this year the trips will be bigger and even better.  We can have the sleepover in the new Gathering Room sleeping loft.  WITH Air Conditioning.  There will be plenty of choices of dates so everyone will have an opportunity to visit Camp Kismet.

So spread the word and tell your friends.  Kismet Farm is the place to be in 2007!

Well, it’s time to get back to work chasing Pandora and Sparkles around the field!  Little Nina is sure looking cute (& big).  Not to mention my girlfriend Taffy.  I’m signing off and will talk to you again next month. In the meantime, you can e-mail me at sherry.shypailo@gmail.com  Just put “To Mr. Kismet” as the subject and I’ll be sure to get it!
